Sylvain Fondeur, Chairman of the Executive Board of Banque Richelieu France, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer.
Jean-Denis Rathier, Chief Compliance and Risk Officer, has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Group Banque Richelieu is a family-owned banking group specializing in wealth management. It comprises a financial holding company based in Paris, Compagnie Financière Richelieu (operating under the Richelieu Banking Group brand), two banks—Banque Richelieu France and Banque Richelieu Monaco—and two asset management companies, Richelieu Gestion and Hugau Gestion.
The Group has entered a significant phase of accelerated growth. Synergies between its various entities are now fully established and delivering results. Richelieu Banking Group has achieved its objective of reaching nearly €8 billion in assets under management, driven by strong commercial inflows, as well as €84 million in net banking income at the end of 2023, representing an increase of nearly 50% compared with 2022. The Group reports a Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) solvency ratio of 24%.
The Group’s Board of Directors, together with the relevant regulatory authorities, has approved the following governance changes:
Sylvain Fondeur appointed Chief Executive Officer while remaining Chairman of the Executive Board of Banque Richelieu France
A graduate of NEOMA Business School with a Master’s degree in Finance, Sylvain Fondeur has more than 10 years of experience in audit and M&A. He began his career in 2007 within PwC Luxembourg’s asset management practice and joined PwC France in 2010 as a Senior Manager in the Transaction Services department.
Specializing in mergers and acquisitions in the financial services sector, Sylvain joined Compagnie Financière Richelieu when it was created in 2018 as Chief Financial Officer. He also became a Member of the Executive Board of Banque Richelieu France in 2019. He was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board of Banque Richelieu France in April 2023 and will retain this position.
Jean-Denis Rathier appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer, overseeing Risk and Compliance
Jean-Denis Rathier has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer, with responsibility for the Risk function (including IT risk) and Compliance (including personal data protection).
A graduate with a Master’s degree in Management Sciences from Université Paris Dauphine, Jean-Denis Rathier joined LCL in 1986, where he held various management positions across sales, human resources and marketing functions. From 2009 onwards, he served as Chief Compliance Officer.
He joined Compagnie Financière Richelieu in 2018 as Chief Compliance Officer, before becoming Chief Compliance and Risk Officer in 2023.
